Visiting Zadar, Croatia

Zadar, kako si lijep. How beautiful you are.
Zadar is a quite large city in the south of Croatia. It is located directly at the Adriatic sea and it has about 80 thousand citizens. I was mostly fascinated by the old town of Zadar, as it is too beautiful to be true. The old buildings, the marble floors throughout the whole town and the ocean right in front of you.
The town has a lot to offer. It is mostly known for its old churche St. Donatus (in the picture), but it captures a lot of other famous churches, as well. A slightly more modern art work of Zadar is the new ocean-organ, built in 2005 by the architect Nikola Bašić. According to the movement and size of the waves, it plays different tones. It sounds magical. Built by the same architect, there is also a large circle made of solar cells, which create a beautiful play of colors, when the sun is rising and setting.
That being said, Zadar is definitely one of the most special Croatian towns and worth visiting.
