Food guide – Ericeira Portugal
July 17, 2019Food
Have I already told you that I fell in love with Ericeira? The people, the vibes, the surfing and the food. I have been in Portugal for one week. You can read all about my surfvacation, here.
And in this one week I have discovered a few really good restaurants, bars and cafés, which I would like to share in this blog post.
Tik Tak is my favorite restaurant in Ericeira. It is located directly in the city and they offer a wide range of food. From grilled tuna filets to steaks, everything in between.
The food there tastes amazing and it’s really high in quality. But, what excited me the most was the excellent service. I have met, without joke, the friendliest and most professional waitress ever. She answered every question we had in detail and was just so nice and talkative.
As a starter we had the shrimps with garlic olive oil and bread. Then I ordered the sauteed duck breast with steamed veggies and potatoes on the side. The second time we were there I ordered the filet steak with veggies and some kind of potato-cheese dish baked in the oven. Both were excellent.
Another good restaurant in Ericeira is the Funky. This restaurant is a little bit more exotic, funky, unusual and they have great plantbased options.
I ordered linguini with scampi and some kind of mussel. It was so delicious. The only downside is that it is a little bit more expensive and that they have rather small portions.
Green is Good
During my holidays I stayed at the GiG capsule hostel, which felt like home. I loved it. A reason for my obsession with this hostel is, among others, the super healthy and super delicious breakfast. The owner of the GiG owns the hostel, as well as the café, which is in the same building.
The best thing about this café is that it gives you such beachy feels, like you were in Byron Bay in Australia. The style of the café is very hipster-like and the food is healthy and so beautifully served. Perfect for instagram photos.
Nightlife and bars
Mar das Latas
After the surfing lessons, which was always in the evening, we went to a little bar at the top of the cliff to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset. The wine bar was called Mar das Latas. The uniqueness of this place wasn’t only the huge variety of wines and cheese, but also the spot. It is located directly at the cliff with a view on the ocean, so that you can watch the sunset while enjoying your glass of wine.
If you like portugesian music you will be stunned by this bar. I loved the Adega bar, because it was really authentic and it had a latin flair to it. Plus, that’s the bar locals go to, so that’s gotta mean something.
Something you gotta try
You have to try the specialty of Portugal, Pastel de Nata. These are small flaky pastries filled with vanilla pudding. They taste like little drops of heaven.
The best ones of Lissabon are definitely from the Manteigaria.
And another recommendation for Lissabon is a really good burger restaurant called A culture da Hamburger. You have to try their burger, when you are in Lissabon some time.
Thank you so much for reading,
